The Criminal Justice Center experienced water damage in the kitchen as a result of the significant rains experienced in the spring of 2015. In their review they recognized that the existing roof needed to be replaced over approximately 56,000 square feet at the facility. iiCON Construction Group was selected over other bidders as the best value for El Paso County because we recognized the client's primary purpose of the project.
As a result of the roof leaks and interior damage to the kitchen, the County was forced to rent a temporary kitchen to feed the current inmates. The monthly cost of this rental was close to $100,000. iiCON put a team and a plan together to expedite our renovation effort in the kitchen and successfully turned this area over earlier than what the other bidders could deliver. Included in the kitchen renovation was the installation of a new ansul exhaust hood, improved floor drains, a new resinous kitchen floor, and a rooftop make up air unit.
Additionally, we worked in phases to replace the existing roofing with a TOP System to include new flashing and re-certified lightning protection system.
